Here’s some of my favorites from my recent shoot. There are lots more and I’ll need some help choosing.

The authors investigated the role of homosexual arousal in exclusively heterosexual men who admitted negative affect toward homosexual individuals. Participants consisted of a group of homophobic men (n = 35) and a group of nonhomophobic men (n = 29); they were assigned to groups on the basis of their scores on the Index of Homophobia (W. W. Hudson & W. A. Ricketts, 1980). The men were exposed to sexually explicit erotic stimuli consisting of heterosexual, male homosexual, and lesbian videotapes, and changes in penile circumference were monitored. They also completed an Aggression Questionnaire (A. H. Buss & M. Perry, 1992). Both groups exhibited increases in penile circumference to the heterosexual and female homosexual videos. Only the homophobic men showed an increase in penile erection to male homosexual stimuli. The groups did not differ in aggression. Homophobia is apparently associated with homosexual arousal that the homophobic individual is either unaware of or denies.

In other news, over at The Gamer’s Quarter is a PDF release of issue four, which contains my article, “Doubting Heroes,” about God of War and the Hero’s Journey. You can order an issue for just 5 bucks. Please do it! I mean, how often does a friend of yours actually have an article in a magazine? It would mean so much to me — or you can simply read it online, and be a cheapskate. Keep doing that, though, and the issues may dwindle.

It’s strange that Christmas is this week. I don’t think I’ve ever felt more removed from the holidays. The view of the wall next door hasn’t changed; no one’s put up trees or lights, and I don’ t have television, so there’s no holiday spirit filtering into my apartment there. My diet prohibits both Egg Nog and Christmas Crunch (my two favorite holiday indulgences), and it’s not exactly cold in LA. I’m working, and that’s about it.

I love getting sorted.

I made the gonzo flyer! After I was already gone… Damnit! That was one of my secret ambitions for Amsterdam.

Still, I’m so flattered and.. it’s so cool.

Oh, right. This is a blog. What the hell is a Gonzo flyer, dear American readers? Why, Gonzo is a party-company (gonzone.com) that puts up some really swell, crazy Amsterdam parties. Brendan Hunt has hosted quite a few of them in his day, and I’ve gone to a couple. They’re full of costumes and puppets and fire and great music. This is their New Year’s Eve flyer. And look! That little-bo-peep looks familiar!

I miss having money. And a job.

The best thing I’ve read in a while:

“The true spirit of American democracy that all men are born with equal rights and duties has been confused with the political sophistry that all men are born with equal character and ability to govern themselves.”

This is a reoccuring theme of mine, but the language here may describe it in more elegant terms than I have.
